Generation to Generations

Just as was the case in the days of King Joash, as recorded in 2 Kings 12, we find the “temple” to be in disrepair in some respects. With this becoming increasingly evident, your leaders are stepping forward to lead our church community to repair our facilities. This is not just for our good, but for the good of generations to come. Handing well-maintained and even modernized ministry tools to those who are coming behind us is a key to the effectiveness of First Baptist Mount Dora. We are building a legacy that will serve our generation and generations to come.

Our Facility is a Sacred Trust.
Let’s Care for it Appropriately!

2 Kings 12:4-5
The Repair of the Temple Under Joash

And Joash said to the priests, “All the money of the dedicated gifts that are brought into the house of the Lord—each man’s census money, each man’s assessment money—and all the money that a man purposes in his heart to bring into the house of the Lord, let the priests take it themselves, each from his constituency; and let them repair the damages of the temple, wherever any dilapidation is found.”

A Blessed Church. A Faithful God.

A Blessed Church. A Faithful God.

At First Baptist Mount Dora, we are a blessed people. God continues to work powerfully in and through our church, and we step into the future with hearts full of gratitude and expectation.

Grateful for the Past. Expectant for the Future.

Grateful for the Past. Expectant for the Future.

For decades, these buildings have served as the backdrop for worship, discipleship, prayer, laughter, tears, salvations, and countless life-changing moments. They are more than structures — they are tools for ministry and a sacred trust entrusted to us by a faithful God.

WHAT God Has Called Us To

Generation to Generations is centered on strengthening the spaces where ministry happens every week. These updates are not about changing who we are, but about stewarding well what God has entrusted to us and preparing our campus for continued impact.

Across our facilities, several foundational improvements are needed. This includes fresh interior and exterior paint throughout the Worship Center, the FMC, and our campus buildings. Years of faithful use and exposure to the elements have taken their toll, and these updates will help preserve and protect our structures for years to come. In addition, carpet replacement throughout key ministry areas will enhance both function and appearance.

As part of the renovation process, the FMC will be prepared to serve as a temporary worship space while work is completed in the Worship Center. This will include technical system enhancements, new seating, and stage modifications designed to support worship, preaching, choir, and ministry gatherings. Complementary updates to technical systems within the Worship Center will further strengthen our long-term worship environment.

Several additional improvements will address both practicality and safety, including restroom renovations, door replacements, and enhanced security measures designed to better serve and protect our children and families. Plans also include updates to the porte-cochére at the north entrance of the Worship Center, improving aesthetics while eliminating a significant safety concern for those accessing the building.

These projects represent just the highlights of a broader effort to ensure our campus remains welcoming, functional, and ministry-ready.

WHY the Time is Now

Caring for God’s house is both a privilege and a responsibility. In 2 Kings 12, King Joash recognized that while the temple was still active, it had been worn down over time. His response was not criticism or delay, but faithful leadership. He prioritized restoration, understanding that repairing the temple was a spiritual act of stewardship.

Like the temple in Joash’s day, even sacred places can gradually fall into disrepair. Years of faithful ministry, constant use, deferred maintenance, and changing needs leave their mark. Wear and tear is not a failure. It is evidence of ministry happening. However, that neglect cannot continue indefinitely. Delaying necessary repairs only increases costs, limits ministry effectiveness, and risks misaligned priorities. Obedience often means acting when God makes a need clear.

Joash’s solution was beautifully simple: God’s people participated. Giving was willing, consistent, and rooted in faith. The work was handled with integrity, accountability, and transparency; principles we are fully committed to modeling through the Generation to Generations initiative. Our goal is not extravagance, but restoration. These updates focus on functionality, safety, ministry readiness, and honoring the Lord through excellence.

A healthy, well-maintained church strengthens both our worship and our witness. It creates welcoming spaces for our community, supports growing ministries, and reflects the value we place on what God is doing here.

The work has already begun. We have engaged Radcliffe Keater Construction, and design planning is underway. We anticipate beginning the initial phases of the project as early as April, with progress continuing as materials and approvals are secured.

The time to act is now, together, as one church, investing in the future ministry of First Baptist Mount Dora.

HOW You Can Help

Generation to Generations is a church-wide opportunity to invest in the future of First Baptist Mount Dora. Every person who calls this church home has a meaningful role to play in what God is doing.

We invite you to prayerfully consider supporting this effort through generous, faith-driven giving. Many have already begun participating, and we are deeply grateful. Moving forward together will require a shared spirit of commitment, unity, and sacrifice. As we often remind ourselves, we are not asking for equal gifts, but for equal sacrifice. Scripture teaches us that God is not concerned with the size of the gift, but with the heart of the giver.

For this initiative, we are inviting commitments over a period of up to one year. These gifts may be given weekly, monthly, or in a single offering, as the Lord leads. In addition, some may feel called to contribute through what we are calling a Kickstart Gift: a special contribution designed to help the project begin strongly and maintain financial stability.

Most importantly, we ask for your prayers. Pray for wisdom, unity, provision, and for the continued ministry impact these updates will support. We also encourage you to be an advocate for the vision, helping build excitement, clarity, and encouragement throughout our church family.

Together, we have the privilege of strengthening what God has entrusted to us by serving this generation and generations to come.
